Can you believe this year is half-shot already? Damn. I’m still shaking New Year’s confetti out of my boxer shorts and it’s almost July. I better get with the program, eh? Forthwith, and without further ado:
Albums That Will Probably Make My “Top Ten Of The Year” List,
If I Decide To Do One This Year
(in no particular order):
Sleater-Kinney, The Woods – This one is in, without a doubt.
Devin Davis, Lonely People of the World, Unite! – Ditto.
The Turpentine Brothers, We Don’t Care About Your Good Time – ‘Cuz ya gotta have some garage rock.
Albums That Are On The Bubble
50 Foot Wave, Golden Ocean – Will probably make the cut.
Petra Haden, Petra Haden Sings The Who Sell Out – I played this a lot earlier in the year, and I think it will hold up.
Albums That I Haven’t Had Long Enough To Make Up My Mind,
But That Stand A Good Chance Of Making It
Okkervil River, Black Sheep Boy – Very good indeed. Shame it’s getting stuck in the Americana ghetto.
Kinski, Alpine Static – Leaner, tighter, rockin’.
Spoon, Gimme Fiction – Stripped-down indiepop.
