So. What are you doing this weekend? Surely you’re not going to the Bite? Every yahoo from here to Kent will be there, it’s gonna be hot & sweaty, and there’ll be huge lines for the few decent booths. Hell, even the P-I is capping on it now. No, this would be a good year to give the Bite a miss.
What’s that? The Mariners? You’re kidding, right? They got rid of all their talent this winter and are paying the price now. That’s not a breeze blowing across your face, it’s the suction from this season going down the drain. Not to mention the sucking of the team themselves…
No, the smart thing to do would be to head on down to the Croc Saturday night. No Vote Left Behind is sponsoring “Rock for Regime Change – U2 Cover Night”. And while that might seem a somewhat frightening prospect at first, it actually looks to be pretty good. The line up includes Jared Clifton (Radio Nationals), Paul Hiraga (Downpilot), Braden Blake (Super Deluxe), Skip Peri, Cantona, Fey Ray, The Capillaries and Chronic Disorder. And, as if that were not enough, the lovely and talented Science Girl and I will be there, working for NVLB. I’m not sure exactly what we’ll be doing but I suspect we’ll either be taking donations, working the merch table, registering voters, or some combination thereof. All proceeds go to the DNC, who will in turn use them to get out the vote in those pesky “swing” states.
C’mon, it’ll be fun. It’s for a good cause, admission is cheap ($7, which is less than you’d ordinarily spend on booze – admit it), and maybe someone will cover “The Electric Co.”, aka George Bush’s theme song. Sing it with me, now! “Boy, stupid boy! Don’t sit at the table until you’re able to…”
