I haven’t really got anything tonight. However, allow me to release my inner Tolkein geek for a moment: here is The Silmarillion in 1000 words. If you haven’t read the book, this won’t make any sense at all. If you have, however, it’s really funny. via Boing Boing
What if you have read the book, but the book itself didn't make any sense at all?

Hmmm... read the Cliff's Notes and then the post. Or you could wait for the inevitable movie, I guess. Neither will make much more sense than the book, really. I only got through it beacuse it came out while I was still deeply in my teenage Tolkien-worship phase. I've cracked it once or twice since then, but I don't recall getting all the way through a second time.

Funny, I think that book cured me of my Tolkein worship.
