I believe in coyotes and time as an abstract

Science Girl has a new project! Just because I’m a lazy sod doesn’t mean everyone in our house is, too. There has been an upswing in the number of urban coyote sightings, including a few near where we live. Since coyotes are notorious for snacking on household pets, SG thought it would be a good idea to be able to keep track of where they’ve been sighted. And, since no one else was doing so, she stepped up to the plate and created NW Coyote Tracker. I believe she’s still making a few tweaks in the template and such, but the site is live now. Go check it out.

A momentary lapse in reason

Alrighty, kids, listen up: the seventies blog I threatened you with has come to pass. Please give a warm welcome to the newest addition to the Big Green House family of questionable endeavors, This Ain’t the Summer of Love.

And yes, I am as serious as a heart attack about wanting collaborators. Don’t be shy.

See, now this is how you write a post

The Steve Bartman Effect as it Relates to Music, from Merry Swankster.

The One Mortal Sin, from 45s and under.

Damn near anything from Locust St.

It's a tropical hatewave

Hot, ain’t it?

You know what’s nice when it’s hot? A tall, cool glass of Haterade. There’s nothing like it in the world. And you’re in luck, my friend, because Dana is serving it up fresh this week. Bottoms up!

You hate me! You really hate me!

Oooooh, before I forget: somebody thinks I have the worst weblog they’ve ever seen! Yay! Although they only linked to my bit on "Fairytale of New York", so maybe I don't suck all over. Gotta admit, I’m kinda sad to see that I only have one vote on Death To Bloggers, while www.deathtobloggers.com itself has 23 as of this moment. Surely I’m worse than that.

Go see how it's supposed to be done

Since I’ve got nothing for y’all tonight, why not go check out Negative/Charge, Oh, My Stars and Garters!, and/or The Rest Is Noise? I don’t know any of these people, but I like the way they write. You will, too. No, really. They obviously paid attention in English class, unlike me. I always mean to edit this crap I post here, but... well, you know how it is.

Also, my presence here may be a little spotty for the next few days, as I have to study for my final. And I really do need to study, as I didn’t know we were going to have a final until this week. Are you seeing a theme here?

Dance, Bakerina, dance

Today was blissfully free of attacks by either eagles or my sinuses. This is the good news; in the bad news department, I got nuthin’ for ya tonight. Actually, that should be in the “may or may not be bad news, depending” department.

Hey, go over and read The Bakerina instead. She writes better than I do, she bakes much better than I do (which is not all that difficult, according to several of my former employers), and she’s got very good taste in music*.

*I’m willing to overlook her devotion to The Cure, a band whose charms, such as they are, have always been lost on me. Science Girl digs ‘em too, so perhaps I’m missing something. The music’s fine, I guess; Bob Smith is a pretty decent guitarist, after all. As a singer, though… frankly, his voice suggests the sound a queasy ferret might make while being shoved through a funnel. That's just me, though.

On the other hand, anyone clever enough to give Garnet Mimms a shout-out gets a free pass.
